Transport Infrastructure Program

The aim of the Transport Infrastructure Program is to improve the management and performance of transport infrastructure by helping asset managers deliver an affordable and sustainable level of service appropriate for road users and the community.

Each year more than $18 billion is spent on roads across Australia and New Zealand; a significant investment by all levels of government.

Roads exist as part of an integrated land transport system and as a service delivery arrangement.

The Transport Infrastructure Program provides strategic information to road system managers that helps them to manage and match demand with supply, provide new and upgraded links, and maintain existing infrastructure.

The work of the Program is informed by five task forces:

The Program also oversees the Austroads Technical Advisory Group which provides direction on the development of the Austroads Technical Specifications.
