The Ross River Bridge will be located at the mouth of the Ross River in Townsville. This paper discusses the options which were examined during the Preliminary Design phase and the Detailed Design of the Bridge. Challenges which had to be overcome included: geometric and environmental constraints, difficult geotechnical conditions, possible ship impact, and durability in a hostile environment.
