Bridges

A major revision of AS 5100.4 Bearing and Deck Joints has been undertaken in preparation for the publication of a new edition of AS 5100. The major changes to Part 4 of the Standard include the introduction of provisions for modular deck joints and Approved Sliding Material spherical bearings, revision of the elastomeric bearing performance tables and the introduction of comprehensive rules for load distribution from bearings to the adjacent concrete elements.This paper provides an outline of the new clauses and background to the changes to this Part of the Standard. Comparison is also made with other national and international bearing and deck joint codes.
