This user guide provides guidance on the Investment Prioritisation Templates. The templates are designed to help road authorities consider an investment opportunity through multiple dimensions, such as the benefits of the project, and risk with and without the project.
Three templates are available covering:
- maintenance of road surface
- maintenance of bridges and other structures
- maintenance of traffic lights and signs.
The templates are designed to produce the following outputs:
- economic metrics, such as net present value (NPV) and benefit cost ratio (BCR) of an investment
- performance outcomes, comprising fatalities avoided and hours of travel time saved
- risk outcomes, measured through risk scores with and without investment
- asset condition rating, as defined by the road authority with and without the investment.
