On-road public transport (ORPT) priority treatments improve public transport’s level of service increasing reliability and travel time benefits for users.

There are different ORPT priority treatments available. Each have different levels of suitability depending on the scenario and each may apply the priority over other road users differently, depending on the road user hierarchy. It may also apply this priority at different times of day.

Austroads has developed a practical process (referred to as a ‘tool’) to guide practitioners through the selection of the appropriate ORPT priority treatments for any road scenario. The tool is documented in the 2020 Austroads report AP-R645-20 On-Road Public Transport Priority Tool.

This webinar will provide an overview of the tool explaining how it was developed and how practitioners may use the tool in their day-to-day work selecting appropriate ORPT priority treatments for any road scenario.

This project leveraged off the Austroads project AP-R550-17 Prioritising On-road Public Transport.

Presented by David Green and Graham McCabe.
