The purpose of this guideline is to provide potential recyclers with the information they need to gain a better understanding of how recycled crushed glass (RCG) should be processed to make it fit-for-purpose for infrastructure applications.

This guideline provides readers with a point of reference to review process considerations, technical notes and the current market practices for producing RCG products for use as a sand replacement in road construction such as bedding sand, drainage, landscaping, backfill and concrete applications.

The guideline includes information on the most common pieces of equipment used in crushing, processing, and cleaning. It also provides process examples in practice. Case studies of current recycled crushed glass plants and their operations are also presented.

It is recognised that RCG is not a new product or technology. However, the applications and variability of glass have substantially increased in complexity.
