Each year Austroads produces an annual report which details its work program, operations and financial management.

The annual report provides a detailed review of the strategic focus of each Austroads Program as well as the projects completed and progressed during the year.

At a glance, in 2015-16 Austroads:

  • invested $12.9m in a roads related research work program including $4.4m in infrastructure design and testing, $3m in asset management, $2m in road network management and $1.4m in road safety
  • undertook work in 148 projects, completing 62 during the year
  • published 79 reports and updates to the Austroads Guides (with 317,000 publications sold and downloaded)
  • enabled 125m driver licence and vehicle registration database transactions via the National Exchange of Vehicle Data Information Service (NEVDIS).

Neil Scales honoured with Austroads Medal for transformational leadership

Neil Scales is the 12th recipient of the Austroads Medal in its more than 30-year history. Neil has worked with Austroads over the past 10 years as Chair, Deputy Chair, long-standing Board member and Australia’s First Delegate to PIARC (World Road Association). The medal is awarded to people who have made an exceptionally meritorious contribution to the achievement of Austroads’ objectives over a sustained period.

Congratulations to Madeleine McManus OAM on receiving 2024 John Shaw Medal

The John Shaw Medal honours an industry champion who has made a lasting contribution to Australia’s roads. This year the award was presented to Madeleine McManus OAM, Chief Executive Officer at the Centre for Professional Engineering Education and Centre for Pavement Engineering Education (CPEE).
