Road transport regulation and compliance are occurring within a rapidly evolving environment due to significant changes to road transport law and the establishment of an independent National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) which will be responsible for regulating all heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonnes effective from 2013. This project develops formal units of competency and associated qualifications for road transport regulators as well as addressing gaps in the nationally available suite of regulatory competencies and qualifications used by other regulators to ensure road transport compliance requirements were accommodated.
