Trip generation rates for Australia and New Zealand

The project is exploring the demand for, and opportunities to, develop improvements in trip generation estimates associated with land-use activities to enable more reliable transport demand analysis and network impact assessments in Australia and New Zealand.

A comprehensive survey of industry, academic and jurisdictional experts, detailed interviews on current practice, issues and opportunities and a practitioner workshop are informing our understanding of the application of current estimates and databases sourced from local and international markets. The project will develop recommendations for possible improvements to Austroads Guide to Traffic Management Part 12 as well as recommendations on next steps for the development of updated and harmonised trip generation rates if required.
