Austroads Technical Specification ATS 3480 sets out the requirements for the following treatments to the surface of bituminous pavements:

  1. improving the surface texture of sprayed seals by removing excess binder (‘Retexturing‘); and
  2. removing unwanted materials such as petrol, oil, grease, lichen and other grime from road surfaces (‘Surface Cleaning’).
