This document serves to re-issue the content of the previous 2009 edition of the Austroads Guide to Road Safety Part 6: Road Safety Audit, albeit with a change in title and reference (Part 6A) to more accurately reflect the original objective of the document in guiding practitioners through the practical implementation of road safety audits.
A new, complementary Part 6 has been developed and published concurrently, to specifically cover the management of road safety audits. It is recognised that some degree of repetition and obsolescence exists between the two guides. Where this occurs, the new Part 6 shall take precedence.
Consolidation of the two guides into one, standalone document has been proposed to commence in mid-2019.
Guide to Road Safety Part 6: Road Safety Audit (2009) has been reissued as Guide to Road Safety Part 6A: Implementation of Road Safety Audits. It is expected that this will be a short-term measure, with a consolidation of Guide to Road Safety Part 6 and Guide to Road Safety Part 6A planned to remove any ambiguity, inconsistency or duplication in the texts.
Where there is duplication or discrepancy between Guide to Road Safety Part 6 and Guide to Road Safety Part 6A, Part 6 will take precedence.
The references to Austroads Guides have also been updated to reflect changes since the publication of edition 1.0 in 2009.
Edition 1.1 updates the Guide format, no text changes were made.
