The suitability of the CoreLok device was assessed for estimating the bulk density of compacted asphalt specimens. The device encloses a sample in a plastic bag which is subjected to vacuum and sealed. Results were compared to saturated surface dry and mensuration methods of estimating bulk density. Both practical issues and comparative results are discussed in the report.
