A significant factor contributing to the establishment of Australia’s large network of surfaced roads has been the successful application of sprayed sealing technology, including the selection of treatments, design of the treatments and application procedures. Several recent Austroads projects have addressed the aspects of the selection and design of sprayed seal treatments and the outcomes published.

One outcome of the Austroads Sprayed Seal Design Project is AP:T68/06 Update of the Austroads Seal Design Method which includes improvements to the design of rates of application of binder and aggregate.
