A new, performance related asphalt mix design procedure was developed to address increased traffic stressing of pavements and to evaluate new mix types and new binder formulations. A series of Workshops was held in the capital cities of Australia and in New Zealand to assist implementation of the new Austroads mix design procedure and adoption of the complementary asphalt specification. The report summarises the position of each SRA with regard to how these are being implemented. In general, it appears that all Authorities are working towards implementation, although at different rates. Also presented in the report is a list of the main issues raised which should be addressed through a research and development program.
