The purpose of the study is to recommend an ongoing Austroads research programme that is focussed on the impacts of the increasing volume of light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and rigid trucks (Rigids) on the urban traffic network in terms of their contribution to urban congestion, environmental considerations and road safety. This final report forms the key deliverable of the study and outlines options for further examination to improve operating efficiency and reliability, whilst managing those impacts.
