Concrete durability is an increasingly important issue for road authorities because of the large population of ageing bridges and the decreasing funds available for construction and maintenance. The performance of bridges in the Australasian road network reflects the materials, methods, loads and knowledge of the past. This report seeks to collate information on current practices in dealing with concrete durability problems, identify durability issues and quantify the extent of the problem.
