The near-surface mounted (NSM) FRP technique has received attention worldwide over the externally bonded FRP strengthening technique. Strengthening of a concrete girders using fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites to flexural and shear applications has attracted many researchers. However, little considerations for torsional strengthening have been made. The present study aims to experimentally investigate the torsional strengthening of concrete beams using the NSM technique. Two different torsional strengthening configurations were tested including: full wrapping and u-wrapping. The results of a five beams are presented. A special torsional rig was used to test the beams and the results expressed in terms of the torsional capacity with respect to the angle of twist. A comparison was conducted between the control specimens and the different strengthening configurations. The results exhibited a notable increase to the torsional strength of the concrete members using different configurations of NSM FRP strengthening technique.
