A wide range of approaches to modelling pavement performance and performance measures are available and used by road agencies. The selected approach to modelling pavement performance and the suite of performance measures used depends upon the context and the individual requirements of the road agencies.
Typically, performance measures cover the functional, structural and surface performance of pavements for the following:
- the estimation of RSL for the programming and budgeting for either replacement/rehabilitation or additional maintenance to extend pavement life
- the dependent parameter for prediction modelling of pavement performance so that the state of pavement condition is available for reporting purposes and as an input for pavement management.
