4.2 Information Management Process
Figure 4.1 illustrates a generic information process as proposed by Roads Liaison Group (2013). The data and information gathered does not conform to one-size-fits-all and should reflect the number and variety of assets being managed and be sufficient to support management decisions at the network, route, asset and component level.

Steps 1–3 in the process are activities that should be undertaken when implementing the system in order to identify and analyse gaps between the current and required information. Steps 4–9 represent the on‑going data collection/management cycle.
