Project Number: SSP2068
The purpose of this project is to identify road stereotypes and appropriate road cross-section designs that meet Safe System and other operational objectives. The project is expected to enable the use of performance-based (safety risk) road design standards to inform network-planning (construction and intervention standards). This is possibly a world-first and it has the potential to drive Safe System thinking into planning, and subsequently into everyday projects. The project has two stages. Stage 1 involves a scoping workshop, a literature review, and collation of information for the agreed road stereotypes. Stage 2 work will be determined by those findings and will only proceed after receiving Austroads approval.
