The project is developing best-practice strategies and supporting materials for road agencies to communicate the value of the road freight task to local road managers and their communities. It draws on expertise in communications and road and freight management to prepare guidance and identify a unifying message about why road freight matters.
A survey of local governments and industry associations, wide-ranging interviews with jurisdictions and industry representatives, and a literature review are informing the preparation of guidance and key messages. Case Studies being developed as part of the project will assist local roads managers to adapt the guidance to their circumstances.
