Cooperative intelligent transport systems and freight productivity

This project will investigate the efficiency and productivity benefits for road freight vehicles using cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS). A range of C-ITS are in development which may benefit freight transport. Governments must prepare for their wide implementation in Australian and New Zealand. This project will work with the Austroads Connected and Automated Vehicles program to support policy development and evaluation frameworks to facilitate their use in heavy vehicle industries. The project supports the National Policy Framework for Land Transport Technology: Action Plan 2016–19 and the Policy Framework for Intelligent Transport Systems in Australia (2012).
