What is REAAA?

REAAA is the Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia . The association promotes the science and practice of road engineering and related professions in the Asia Pacific region through developing professional and commercial links within and between countries in the region.

REAAA has about 1,000 members in 26 countries and holds regular events including a triennial international conference, technical visits and study tours, trade displays, seminars, forums and workshops.

In addition, REAAA distributes a journal and newsletter twice-yearly, in July/December and April/October respectively.  These publications feature papers and items of interest submitted by members throughout the Asia-Pacific region. REAAA Essay Competition

The Road Engineering Association of Asia and Australasia (REAAA) is running a Road Safety essay competition. Authors are invited to submit their essays for consideration on or before 15 October 2010.

Entry rules:
- Authors are to submit an essay on the topic "Road Safety - Make it happen". The essay should discuss effective ways to implement and improve road safety and should also include ideas on the best and most effective way to communicate road safety messages.
- Eligible authors are either an ordinary/associate member of REAAA or an employee of an institutional member of REAAA at the time of the submission.
- The essay must be between 1,000-1,500 words in length and must not have been published elsewhere in the same form.
- All prize winners will be selected based on originality, creativity and overall content of their essay. The prize winners will be notified by the judging panel.
- Prizes are as follows:

o First Prize - RM 1,000.00 (approx $350 AUD)
o Second Prize - RM 750.00 (approx $260 AUD)
o Third Prize - RM 500.00 (approx $175 AUD)
